From fifteen to a hundred and counting.
Zufek started in 2018 with a founding team of roughly fifteen senior cell engineers from established Chinese cell manufacturers. Eight years in, we’re 100+ strong — still the same tight team that can put a dedicated project engineer on every customer program from kick-off through ramp.
The growth has been deliberate and slow. We've turned down growth opportunities that would have required us to hire 200 production operators in a quarter, because that's not the company we set out to build. Our hiring bar tilts toward depth: cell chemists with PhD-level lab experience, BMS firmware engineers who have shipped to medical devices, formation specialists who know which knob to turn when calendar life starts drifting on cycle 350.
R&D + QC outweighs the production floor.
Most cell makers our size are 70% production operators and 10% engineers. We're roughly the inverse: about 55% of our headcount sits in engineering, R&D, formation and quality roles, with the production floor sized for the customisation-heavy work we actually do, not for catalogue volume.

One engineer, whole program.
Every customer gets a named project engineer on day one. That engineer stays with the program through sampling, qualification, mass production and after-sales. No handoffs between unknown teams, no ticket queues — just one person who knows your device and can escalate inside Zufek when needed.
The PM has a direct line to the cell engineer who designed your stack, the formation specialist who tuned your CC/CV profile, and the QA lead who signed your IEC 62133 report. When something is off — a capacity drift on incoming materials, a moisture excursion in the dry room, a supplier QC issue — you get the explanation from the person who actually did the diagnosis, not a layered escalation path.
